Excursion

Rooted among the ancient yew trees of Stanmer Park, Yew Tree Forest Folk follows the turning of the seasons through story, song, and shared wonder. Our days are guided by the wheel of the year and rich in folklore, as children listen to old tales, notice the first snowdrops of spring, sing to the fruit trees, and play their way into a living relationship with the land. Learning unfolds slowly and naturally, shaped by the rhythms of nature and the children’s own acuriosity.

DISCOVER THE MAGIC OF NATURE

Welcome to Yew Tree Forest Folk

Yew Tree Forest Folk is a small, nurturing forest education group for children aged 5 - 7, rooted in the woodland and meadows of Stanmer Park, Brighton. Inspired by Waldorf pedagogy and guided by Forest School principles, we offer children a gentle, activity based learning experience deeply connected to the natural world.

Our days unfold outdoors, shaped by the seasons, the weather, and the living landscape around us. Through storytelling, song, imaginative play, nature crafts, and shared routines, children are supported to develop resilience, creativity, emotional security, and a strong sense of belonging to themselves, to one another, and to the land.

We work intentionally with small group sizes, allowing relationships, trust, and community to grow slowly and organically. Learning is holistic and child-led, with space for magic and wonder, movement, quiet moments, and adventurous exploration. Our experienced educators bring together Waldorf inspired practice and Forest School training to create a calm, consistent environment where children can truly thrive.

Yew Tree Forest Folk is based within the wider Stanmer Organics community, a living example of sustainability, care for the land, and shared values around wellbeing and ecological stewardship.
